[designer’s comment] This logo design for @Home’s web-based internet cable service was created by John Schmitz for @Home’s creative director Roger Black. One of the internet’s most iconic brands for obvious reasons, it like many internet pioneers evolved and later went out of business. The Giza type seen here was replaced with a more “friendly” looking variation of Linotype’s Antique Olive, but the distinctive at ball remained—it was also modeled in 3-D as a huge ball outside the offices. [typography] The font used is Giza.
